I. How To Begin Well, first off read the rules. You'll know what you can or cannot do here. Next go and create your character, or request a canon spot. If you apply for one of th Six, then you should post in there. You still need to create an application for them, but this way you already know stuff about them. If you would like more information on them, such as their backstory, then you may PM me for info.
There are a few rules about that. One is your character has to be under level fifteen. Their moves must correspond with their level. Though they may know one egg move or one TM move. These moves must be learnable by that specific pokemon. And if there is too many of one type of pokemon then they will be banned. Also if you want to roleplay a pokemon that's evolved via happiness or an evo stone tell us 1)if they evolved via happiness why did they leave their trainer and 2)how they came upon the evo stone.
Once you post your character you will need to wait at most 24 hours until it's accepted. Do NOT beg the staff to read it, especially in the cbox. If you do you will be warned, without warning (see what I did there ). After he/she/it is accepted then you would start posting. I suggest the Dock if your pokemon just arrived in Oran.

II. How To Battle & Gaining Experience A battle can start anywhere and anytime. You can fight for a contest, food, or even a mate. To initiate a battle you should ask if it's okay since some people might not be wanting to fight at the moment. After that though you can just go at it. The way you should battle is using one move or a combo move each turn.
Single Move: Any attack, physical or status, that aids in your win. It is only one attack and once that one attack is done your turn ends.
Combo Move: Two attacks, physical or status, that work together. An example of this is Double Team and Quick Attack. You could use double team first to confuse your opponent and then quick attack to attack them before they attack you.
In large battles or tournaments we don't use hit points, but use common sense. If a Venasaur uses Solar Beam on a Blastoise that's going to cause considerable damage. But if A level ten Roselia was to use magical leaf on a level fifty marshtomp, though it would hurt it, it would be that powerful. Levels here do count and make sure you keep that in mind while fighting.
To get experience you count your words in each post. Each word counts as one experience point. To see how many experience points you need read below. But you need to make sure to count the rest of your exp points you have left over. It helps to keep them in your journal or pokepage or something. Even in your signature. Those leftover go toward your next level.
One to Two: 250 Two to Three: 285 Three to Four: 300 Four to Five: 350 Five to Six: 385 Six to Seven: 400 Seven to Eight: 450 Eight to Nine: 485 Nine to Ten: 500 Ten to Eleven: 550 Eleven to Twelve: 585 Twelve to Thirteen: 600 Thirteen to Fourteen: 650 Fourteen to Fifteen: 685 Fifteen to Sixteen: 700 Sixteen to Seventeen: 750 Seventeen to Eighteen: 785 Eighteen to Nineteen: 800 Nineteen to Twenty: 850 Twenty to Twenty-One: 885 Twenty-One to Twenty-Two: 900 Twenty-Two to Twenty-Three: 950 Twenty-Three to Twenty-Four: 985 Twenty-Four to Twenty-Five: 1000 Twenty-Five to Twenty-Six: 1050 Twenty-Six to Twenty-Seven: 1085 Twenty-Seven to Twenty-Eight: 1100 Twenty-Eight to Twenty-Nine: 1150 Twenty-Nine to Thirty: 1185 Thirty to Thirty-One: 1200 Thirty-one to Thirty-Two: 1250 Thirty-Two to Thirty-Three: 1285 Thirty-Three to Thirty-Four: 1300 Thirty-Four to Thirty-Five: 1350
To evolve your pokemon you need to reach the numbers above. If you evolve via an evolution stone you need to buy it in the shop. To evolve via friendship you need to buy a Soothe Bell from the Shop and with the character in at least five threads.
If you loose a battle you only gain one third of those experience points. If you win you receive all. You can only gain experience points after the battle and in the end of the thread.

III. Spending Your Coins For each post you make you earn five coins. You can earn more by doing different things or reaching a certain post count. Or you can sell your babies O.O I mean the eggs you receive in your breeding. You can sell them to other pokemon for a reasonable fee.
The shop where you can spend these coins at is called, respectively, the Coin Market. This is where you can buy all sorts of items, from special stones like Shiny and Dusk, to human items like Silk Scarves and Macho Brace. You can buy additions, such as a Breeding License (something that's required for your pokemon to start breeding). Many items are available, and all stuff you'd need or want.
Just post in the Market board to request an item.

IV. Mates & Breeding In early spring to early summer there's a season called the Mating Season. What this is, is where you and another pokemon (even two you both roleplay) can be mates. The two pokemon must have similar egg groups. Serebii.net is a great way to find out about that.
But it takes a while for the eggs to happen. They can hatch in Early Autumn, but the Breeding Season skips winter entirely and happens again in Early Spring to Late Spring. You can have at most four eggs in a batch. Like stated before you can sell your eggs or give them away as gifts. You may want to sell them if your pokemon is particularly rare, such as an eevee or chansey. Because only certain numbers of those pokemon may be created naturally.
There are sometimes when the eggs are with birth defects, such as blind, deaf, or even stillborn. Nature isn't kind to anybody. The defects are more common in autumn babies as the weather is harsher. Your egg can have a chance to be shiny, but this is rare.

V. Not Allowed Generation I, II, III, and IV Pokemon are allowed to be roleplayed here. That include moves learned in those generations as well. However Generation V is not. That includes moves. In due time they will be allowed.
Legendary pokemon such as mewtwo and articuno are not allowed either. Pseudo-legendary pokemon such as dragonite are not allowed either. If you are not sure on a certain legendary not being allowed then please ask Admin Mimi.
You may not become a pokemon that evolves via stone unless you have evolved prior to coming to Oran. Since stones are rare here it would be 98 % impossible to evolve via one.
