On open threads there is a thread form, what is that for? Do we need permission to open threads?

The OPEN THREADS form is if you already have a thread and you want someone to reply to it. You use that form for a reply to your thread.

Ah, so it's basically a place you ask people to rp with you? And if the thread doesn't say open then we can't join it?

Yes you post in that board with the form if you want someone to reply with you. The thread doesn't have to say open for you to join it as some people (including me) don't put open on open threads. Just if it says (name) in the title of the thread that usually means the original poster only wants that person to rp with them.
